New interactive art scavenger hunt to highlight Richmond artists

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A new interactive art scavenger hunt game, The 804 Art Drop, will be taking place in Richmond in August, allowing participants to explore hidden artworks around the city.

The 804 Art Drop, organized by Kim Flournoy and Chris Beins, is a rendition of Game of Shrooms, which is an annual art scavenger hunt that takes place in cities around the world.

On Monday, Aug. 4, local artists will hide their original artwork pieces throughout the city, while those participating will use maps and clues on social media to find their favorites artists' pieces within the next 24 hours.

“I would love to see our artists and community come together and share a little bit of
joy,” Beins said. “We have a lot going on in the world.”

According to the organizers, the 804 Art Drop will end with a happy hour event that evening at 7 p.m. at Triple Crossing Beer-Fulton, located at 5203 Hatcher Street.
