New mixed-income community to come to old Glenwood Farms site
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County announced that the demolition of Glenwood Farms apartments will be complete soon.
According to a Facebook post from Henrico County, the demolition of the Glenwood Farms apartment community, near East Laburnum Avenue, is expected to be finished at the end of June.
The demolition of the apartment complex built in 1948, will follow with plans to redevelop the land into a 913-unit mixed-income community that consists of townhouses, multi-family and age-restricted units, as well as units for commercial use.

Henrico County is contributing $11 million in loans and incentives in its Economic Development Authority initiative in support of the redevelopment. However, the county seeks to raise $4 million dollars in order to provide safer housing options and other resources for Glenwood Farms residents, according to Henrico County.
