New seafood restaurant Slack Tide Fish Co. opens in Richmond’s Scott’s Addition
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A new seafood restaurant opened on June 6 at the Ballast complex in Scott’s Addition in Richmond, with tables available to reserve.
Slack Tide Fish Co. opened with a grand opening on Friday, June 6, and is led by Chef Caleb Shriver (formerly of Dutch & Co.), General Manager Adam Stull. and Beverage Director Steve Yang.
The restaurant aims to "serve global coastal fare in a relaxed, convivial setting," according to a social post from the restaurant. The menu celebrates Mid-Atlantic cuisine and is reportedly heavily inspired by global shorelines.
They added that the menu will also feature an oyster bar and a curated cocktail program.
According to the restaurant's website, Shriver began his formal training in 2003 at The Coach House Apprentice program in Oklahoma City and studied under Chef Kurt Flieschfresser. Since arriving to Richmond, Shriver has explored local ingredients and wildlife.
Meanwhile, John Hartman, sous chef, has been a Richmond resident for over 25 years, while Steve Yang, the beverage director, moved to Richmond in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
