Over 1,000 Virginians attend ‘Good Trouble Lives On’ protest

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 1,000 Virginians attended the "Good Trouble Lives On" protest in downtown Richmond on Thursday in a three-mile-long line of protesters.

The protest was held on Monument Avenue as part of 50501 Virginia's "Good Trouble Lives On" protest, where over 1,000 Virginians honored the late U.S. Representative John Lewis, who died in 2020, as well as protested Donald Trump's administration.

More than 40 organizations joined the 1,000 Virginians and set up booths and tables, including organizations like Indivisible, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Progress Virginia, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia, Moms Demand Action, Climate Action Virginia, Richmond Food Not Bombs, Black Lives Matter RVA, regional Democratic Committees and Richmond Democratic Socialists for America.

In a statement, 50501 Virginia emphasized the importance of banding together within the Richmond community.

“Today’s protest is a powerful statement about the strength, resilience, and unity of our community. Organizations, nonprofits, clubs, advocates, and protesters came together today in Richmond to speak with one voice, rejecting the chaos, cruelty, and unconstitutional actions of the Trump Administration. But we also came together to engage with one another, provide our neighbors with new ways to get involved, and to make it clear that we will not be divided.” 50501 Virginia

Emcee Nicole Angel (Subryan-Bailey), Mary Bauer, Amanda Pohl, Sheba Williams, Minister William F. McGee, Christopher Maxwell and Aaron Woloshin all delivered remarks from 4819 Monument Avenue.
