Over 6,000 Central Virginia homes, businesses without power due to storms

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 6,000 Central Virginia homes and businesses have no power amid Wednesday night's severe storms.

Severe thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall and even flash floods to many parts of Central Virginia on Wednesday, July 9. These storms also caused power outages throughout the region.

As of 11 p.m. on Wednesday, about 6,055 Dominion Energy customers in Central Virginia are without electricity, with significant outages in the following localities:

  • Chesterfield County: 2,563 homes and businesses without power
  • Henrico County: 1,880 homes and businesses without power
  • Richmond: 632 homes and businesses without power
  • Albemarle County: 488 homes and businesses without power
  • Charles City County: 352 homes and businesses without power
  • Sussex County: 150 homes and businesses without power
