Over $800,000 in illegal narcotics seized across Virginia in just one week: VSP

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- State troopers seized more than $800,000 worth of illegal narcotics in just one week as part of Virginia State Police's ongoing crime suppression efforts.
In partnership with local and federal agencies, Virginia State Police continues to carry out crime suppression operations throughout the Commonwealth. On Friday, Aug. 29, the agency released a weekly report on its activities between Wednesday, Aug. 20 and Wednesday, Aug. 27.
During that 7-day period, state troopers seized just under 52 pounds of illegal narcotics, as well as 2,000 fentanyl pills.
This included about 35 pounds of marijuana, 15.3 pounds of cocaine, 16 ounces of psilocybin, 8.2 ounces of methamphetamine and 1.9 ounces of crack cocaine.
In total, these narcotics have an estimated street value of $826,258, per state police.

State troopers also seized 10 firearms -- valued at $5,000 -- and just over $30,000 in U.S. currency.
"The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime," the agency said. "By working in close collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities."
