RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A new padel club opened along the Canal Walk in Richmond on Monday, offering padel, pickleball and more. The courts opened officially on Monday, Jan. 27 for Padel Plant, a new sports facility located at 1201 Haxall Pt. on Richmond's scenic Canal Walk. Padel Plant is taking over what used to be the Haxall Canal Hydro Plant, according to the business's website, aiming to create what they describe as a "third place" for those interested in padel, pickleball and the chance to socialize. The Padel Plant website describes padel as a "combination of tennis and squash, played in doubles and playable off of glass walls."
