Person hurt after 4-vehicle crash closed lanes on I-95 North in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- One person is in the hospital after a four-vehicle crash closed one lane on Interstate 95 North in Chesterfield County Tuesday afternoon.

Virginia State Police said troopers were dispatched to a four-vehicle crash at 4:36 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, between West Hundred Road and Route 288.

As of 5:39 p.m. Tuesday, the right lanes was closed, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Through traffic is getting by using the left lane and on the left shoulder.

At one point, all northbound lanes were closed.

State police confirmed that one person has been taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic backups are about five miles, VDOT said.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area as first responders work to clear the scene.

Troopers are still actively investigating this crash. No additional information is available as of the time of reporting.

As of 7:13 p.m., VDOT reported that the scene is clear and all lanes are open.
