Petersburg Symphony to present ‘Perfectly Marvelous’ celebration with hits by Sinatra, others

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- The Petersburg Symphony Orchestra will present a "Perfectly Marvelous" celebration the weekend of Valentine's Day, featuring classics from hit artists like Frank Sinatra and Maxwell. At 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, the orchestra will hold its 11th Annual Cabaret and Silent Auction at the Gateway Dining and Event Center VSU, located at 2804 Martin Luther King Dr. in Petersburg. James Holden, Jr. and Hannon Lane will direct the Petersburg Symphony -- as well as soloists Jewell Booker and James Curry -- through an array of classic songs. This will include "Love Ballad" by LTD, "Fly Me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra, "Simply Beautiful" by Maxwell and many more. The Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, comprised of over 50 volunteer and professional musicians, has been performing since 1978. 3 suspects sought for allegedly stealing over $1k in items from Walmart in Colonial Heights "For more than 40 years, the PSO has provided performance opportunities for players of orchestral instruments, nurtured young musicians, introduced newly-composed works to the public, collaborated with other musical organizations and made orchestral music accessible to people who may have otherwise been deprived of the experience," the symphony said in its Jan. 27 press release.
