Petersburg’s Legends Park to celebrate reopening after months-long renovations
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The historic Legends Park in Petersburg will open its doors to the public again next week after months-long renovations that started this summer.
According to the City of Petersburg, Legends Park, located at 1614 Defense Road, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Nov. 10, at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate its reopening.
The 330-acre park was closed this summer for a nearly $700,000 renovation project. According to a press release, the renovations have added renovated basketball and tennis courts, new pickleball courts, fencing and a paved parking area.

The city's Office of Recreation, Special Events, and Volunteerism said the renovations support Petersburg's goal of, "improving parks and recreational facilities for all residents, encouraging healthier lifestyles through exercise and outdoor activities."
According to its website, the park offers several amenities, including Wilcox Lake, picnic shelters, walking trails and a bath house.
