CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Chesterfield County apartment complex was surrounded by floodwaters Tuesday night after heavy rainfall caused flooding throughout Central Virginia.

Over the past few weeks, Central Virginia has seen a significant amount of rain as severe storms roll through the region. This has caused flash flooding in many localities, including Chesterfield County.

Following another round of storms the night of Tuesday, July 15, areas like Starview Court saw severe flooding, with floodwaters practically turning the area around the Cloverleaf Lake Apartments into a lake.

As of 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, the only remaining high-water road closure in Chesterfield is Winterpock Road at Bethia Road.

If you come upon a flooded roadway, remember: "Turn around, don't drown." No matter how shallow floodwaters may appear, it is never safe to drive through them.
