PHOTOS: Significant flooding washes out roads, fills backyards in Prince Edward

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Parts of Prince Edward County have flooded due to heavy rainfall Wednesday evening, washing out backyards and turning roadways into rivers.
Severe storms are popping up across Central Virginia the evening of Wednesday, July 9. They're bringing heavy rain with them and, especially given that the ground was already very wet from storms earlier this week, there is a significant flood risk.
Prince Edward is seeing flash flooding, with StormTracker8 Chief Meteorologist Matt DiNardo saying some parts of the county have already seen more than five inches of rainfall.
8News viewers sent in photos and videos of this flooding, which they're seeing in backyards, in parking lots and in the streets. As a reminder: "Turn around, don't drown." Never drive into floodwaters, no matter how shallow they may appear.
