PHOTOS: Small Art with Big Heart Preview

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond Animal League hosted Small Art with Big Heart on Saturday, offering people a preview of the art pieces that will be featured in their upcoming Sugar & Spice auction. The free-to-attend preview was held on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Visual Arts Center in Richmond, showcasing over 160 pieces of art that were made by local artists and students. The small art pieces -- just 6 inches by 6 inches -- are also available to view online. People could place their bids or make purchases, knowing that the proceeds will go towards helping animals in need. All the pieces of art featured at Saturday's event will also be available at the Sugar & Spice auction happening on Feb. 8. 8News spoke with Lauren Behringer, Special Events Manager with RAL, about what it means to have people contribute to an event like this. "Every dollar raised from this event will of course go back to supporting Richmond Animal League's mission and supporting pets in need in our community," Behringer said.
