PHOTOS: Sussex firefighters rescue cat stuck more than 30 feet up a tree
SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Sussex County firefighters rescued a black cat that had managed to get stuck more than 30 feet up a tree.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28, Sussex County Animal Control took to Facebook to thank the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department for rescuing a cat from a perilous situation.
The cat had somehow gotten stuck about 35 feet up a tree off of Sylvan Road in the Waverly area. Photos from the incident show the cat clinging to a high branch.
Animal officials said the cat was found to be wearing a pink collar. As of Tuesday, staff at the county shelter are caring for the animal and trying to locate an owner.
