NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Police are looking for information regarding an animal cruelty incident in Indian Creek that led to the death of a dog.
Officials with the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office shared on Friday about the incident in the area between Northumberland and Lancaster counties. According to the announcement, an innocent dog was "deliberately tied to a cinder block and discarded in the water."
"Such behavior is not only unlawful, but it is morally unacceptable in any community that values decency, responsibility, and respect for living beings," authorities wrote.
Further information about the incident was not immediately available. The sheriff's office urged anyone with information, tips or leads to reach out.
"Acts like this must not be ignored, and silence only allows such cruelty to persist... Even the smallest detail may help bring accountability and justice," the announcement continued.
Anyone with information can contact the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office at 804-580-5221.
