Police pursuit involving stolen vehicle on I-95 causes delays in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- An incident on Interstate 95, initially labeled as a "Special Activity Incident" by VDOT, caused significant delays for drivers in Richmond on Tuesday. The incident was first reported around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 24 and was located on I-95 South near the Maury Street exit. According to VDOT, all southbound lanes were closed until around 7 p.m. 8News reached out to Virginia State Police who said they were only "assisting Henrico with traffic control." The Henrico County Police Division said they were assisting the Richmond Police Department with the apprehension of a carjacking suspect. According to Richmond Police, the pursuit began in Henrico County after officers attempted to pull over a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of the City of Richmond earlier on Tuesday morning.
