Portion of road closes in Henrico County after dump truck hits power pole

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A portion of Goodell Road in Henrico County is now closed after a dump truck hit and broke a power pole near Harvie Elementary School.

According to the Henrico County Police Division, at 3:20 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, officials responded to a report of a dump truck hitting a Dominion Energy power pole, causing it to break in half and its wires to fall across the roadway.

The portion of Goodell Road between Harvie Road and Aldersgate Drive is now closed -- and will be for an extended period of time -- officials said.

Commuters are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

There are no injuries as of the time of reporting. Authorities said no one was charged in connection with the incident.

Henrico Police continue to investigate.
