Prince George hosting its community day: how you can participate
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The annual Prince George County community clean-up day will be be held this weekend, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 26.
The announcement was made via the county's Facebook page. According to the post, the event will focus on helping residents dispose of hazardous waste, tires, and certain other unwanted items without charge.
The hazardous waste disposal is only permitted for residents and will be held at two locations. Location One will be at 6600 Courthouse Rd and Location Two will be at 3100 Union Branch Rd, S.
Acceptable items for Location One include:
- Car and light-duty truck tires only (rims of any type or other tire types will be accepted)
- Mattresses and box springs
- Electronics like televisions, computers, monitors and terminals
- Oil-based paints and thinners
- All pesticides
- Break fluid, floor cleaner and other unwanted household cleaners
- Gasoline
- Kerosene
- Chemistry set and photographic chemicals
Paper-shredding services will also be available at Location One.
Acceptable items for Location Two include:
- Normal household trash
- White goods (appliances, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, etc.)
- Yard debris (Limbs and tree branches less than three inches in diameter)
- Household goods (Furniture, etc.)
- Electronics (Televisions, computers, monitors, etc.)
- Mattresses and box springs
