PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (WRIC) -- Prince George High School will hold a day of community fun to promote complete wellness for children on Aug. 9.

The free, family-friendly wellness fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, for all Prince George County residents.

This year's event will include multiple community vendors, including partners from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH)'s Crater Health District, local mental health counseling agencies and and more. Attendees can also learn more about free and reduced-cost lunches during the upcoming school year.

Members of the school district's health services team will be available to offer free vision and hearing screenings.

Residents will also get a chance to attend several mini-panels, spanning about 20 minutes in length, about the impact of social media on children and adolescents, self-care for parents, preparing your child for kindergarten and problem-solving parent challenges with children and adolescents.

Giveaways will also be available while supplies last if you attend mini presentations, which include resource books and food.

Prince George's elementary school will host "Make-and-Take" sessions this year, focusing on "Calming Kits!" This means parents can take a calming kit home and help teach your children to regulate their emotions.

The school district will also hold developmental screenings for children up to 4 years old.
