¿Qué Pasa? Festival returns with vendors, traditional cuisine and live entertainment

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Get a taste of authentic Hispanic and Latin American culture and cuisine with the return of the ¿Qué Pasa? Festival on Saturday, May 3.

The free celebration is happening at Brown's Island in Richmond from noon to 8 p.m.

"You can expect a really wonderful fiesta," Michel Zajur, Virginia Hispanic Chamber president and CEO, told 8News. "It's like going to Latin America for the day. We have lots of families come with their kids and a lot of entertainment."

The festival will feature more than 100 vendors, live entertainment and a kids zone. The full lineup of performers can be found here.

Zajur says the festival began over two decades ago and originated from his family business.

"I had a Mexican restaurant for many years - La Siesta," he explained. "We did Cinco de Mayo there, but it has grown. We had the first ¿Qué Pasa? at the farmers market, and it just grows every year. It's just a wonderful day to celebrate the rich culture here in Richmond."

There are several nearby parking options, according to the ¿Qué Pasa? festival website.
