Remains found at High Bridge Trail State Park identified as 23-year-old woman

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Authorities have identified the remains that were found by two bicyclists at High Bridge Trail State Park in Prince Edward County on Saturday as those of a 23-year-old woman.
According to Virginia State Police, the remains of a dead woman that were found by two bicyclists at High Bridge Trail State Park on Saturday, Aug. 23, have been identified as 23-year-old Samantha Okinyi, of the Prospect area of Prince Edward County.
At around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, two bicyclists reported finding the remains of a dead woman in the Prospect area of High Bridge Trail State Park, according officials.
The Virginia State Police is continuing to investigate this incident as a "suspicious death."
As a result of the investigation, the county closed the section of High Bridge Trail State Park between the east and west Prospect Road trail crossings; however, the trail and parking lot have since been reopened.
