Richmond continues to repair water main at 7th and Canal Streets
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond crews continued to repair the water main at 7th and Canal Streets overnight on Monday, with work pausing until it resumes again Monday evening.
According to a press release shared by the city's Department of Public Utilities on Monday, June 2, crews worked overnight to repair the water main at 7th and Canal Streets.
Though progress was made, the city said the repair was not fully completed because there was "difficulty isolating the valve." Work will reportedly continue Monday evening.
The city added that the engineered repair plan for the water main called for two line stop installations, which were done successfully. Due to the difficulty in isolating the water line, and the need for another line stop, repairs were slated to continue.
To ensure continued water flow at normal levels during the morning, which is a time of high demand, and throughout the rest of the workday, the city said repair work has stopped and will begin again Monday evening.
The city said residents and businesses in Richmond and Henrico County are not affected by the repairs.
The spokesperson added that city and county leaders have worked closely since Friday to make and plan for the repair, and were at the site of the break overnight.
The city said the break was reportedly discovered on Thursday, May 29, and caused low water pressure throughout Henrico County.
