Richmond Floorball Club supports Henrico Hall of Fame inductee ahead of World Champions
POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- As access to floorball grows in the local community, the Richmond Floorball Club is supporting a Henrico County Hall of Fame inductee, who will lead the U.S. at the Women’s World Floorball Championships.
Henrico High School alumna Suzi Lindquist, a 2024 Hall of Fame inductee who graduated from the school in 2008, is set to lead the U.S. at the Women's World Floorball Championships in Czechia in December, according to a release from the Richmond Floorball Club.
“Playing ice hockey and field hockey in Richmond formed the basis of my floorball skills, allowing me to pick it up easily and — since 2019 — compete on the European level and now for the third time on the world stage,” Lindquist said. “The fact that Richmond is helping drive it forward in the U.S. makes this all the more special.”
To support Lindquist, the Floorball club will be available at Barton Rink in Hanover on Monday, Oct. 13, with the club reportedly covering rental costs.
According to a release from the Floorball Club, Lindquist has represented the United States in two previous World Championships and will lead the team into her third Women’s World Floorball Championships in Czechia from Dec. 6 to Dec. 14.
She reportedly built a career in floorball in France's national floorball league. She established a solid resume for her future, which includes more than 100 goals in 56 league games, 16 “Most Valuable Player of the Match” selections and three consecutive finals appearances, as well as a national championship in 2023.
Other Richmonders are also contributing to Richmond's rise into the national floorball spotlight, officials said. Team USA veteran Michelle Walton anchors the Richmond Floorball's youth program. Aylla DeSantiago -- a Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) student and the club's 2025 summer communications intern -- also played for the U.S. Women’s Team at Nationals in Texas while running Richmond’s outreach campaigns, per floorball officials.
This news comes after the Richmond Floorball club hosted the Atlantic Floorball Open on Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24, in partnership with USA Floorball, at the Powhatan Ice Den.
All proceeds will go to the team's GoFundMe page.
