Richmond Flying Squirrels’ final home game at The Diamond sold out
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Flying Squirrels' season finale at The Diamond is officially sold out, as of Thursday afternoon.
According to an Aug. 28 release, the Flying Squirrels' final home game on Sept. 14 will finish off the season after four decades of hosting professional baseball at The Diamond in Richmond.
"Millions of people have made memories at The Diamond over the past 40 years," said Flying Squirrels General Manager Anthony Oppermann. "We knew not everyone could attend the final game of the season, which is why it was important to us to turn the entire final homestand into a farewell celebration. This will be a historic week, so don't miss the opportunity to commemorate The Diamond era before we begin a new one at CarMax Park."
Limited tickets are available for the other five games -- Sept. 9 to Sept. 13 at The Diamond on the team's website.
8News previously reported that the construction of the Flying Squirrels' new home, CarMax Park, is on track to be finished in February 2026. This new season will begin with the park’s inaugural game on April 7, 2026.
The Flying Squirrels will open CarMax Park in April 2026, according to a release from the team. They will play 68 home games between April and September in 2026.
The Flying Squirrels will host "Diamonds Aren’t Forever: The Farewell Series" for the ballpark's final week, per a release. The string of events throughout the week will include celebratory promotions, celebrating the ballpark's legacy, as well as a full list of giveaways, themes and promotions for the week.
The Diamond was the home field for many major leaguers, including several inductees to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The team has welcomed more than 6 million fans since 2010, according to a release from the team.
