Richmond Flying Squirrels release home game times for 2026 season at new CarMax Park

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Not only will the Richmond Flying Squirrels be playing their home games at the brand new CarMax Park this 2026 baseball season, but they'll be throwing first pitches at new times.

The Squirrels announced in August that they will play 68 home games between April and September in 2026, with the soon-to-be-complete CarMax Park set to host the season opener on April 7, 2026.

"One of the things I'm most excited for next season is seeing our fans' reactions as they experience CarMax Park for the first time," said Flying Squirrels general manager Anthony Oppermann in a press release.

On Thursday, Nov. 13, the Squirrels released their home game times for the 2026 season. With some exceptions, many of these times are later than they were in previous seasons -- a decision Oppermann said was made for the benefit of the fans.

"We wanted to allow as much time as possible for everyone to get inside the venue and see all that it has to offer," he said in the release. "Providing more time between when gates open and first pitch will help us accomplish that."

Most Tuesday through Saturday home games in 2026 will begin at 7:05 p.m., with CarMax Park's gates to open at 5:30 p.m., per the release. The home game set for Tuesday, April 21, 2026 will begin at 11:05 a.m. that day.

Home games on Sundays in April, May and September will start at 2:05 p.m., with gates to open at 12:30 p.m., according to the Squirrels. Those times will be 5:05 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively, for Sunday home games in June, July and August.
