Richmond Raceway to bring back Saturday night NASCAR Cup Series Race in 2026

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Fresh off a sold-out weekend of racing, Richmond Raceway announced it will once again host a NASCAR Cup Series Saturday night race in 2026, alongside the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.

The doubleheader weekend is set for Aug. 14 and Aug. 15, 2026.

“We truly couldn’t think of a better way to cap off such an incredible weekend here at Richmond Raceway than by announcing our return for next season,” said track president Lori Waran. “The fans proved that there’s nothing like Saturday night racing in Richmond and all of us, from our track staff to our community members, have our foot on the gas, ready to go for next August.”

The 2026 Richmond schedule includes:

  • Friday, Aug. 14 — NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Race
  • Saturday, Aug. 15 — NASCAR Cup Series Race

This year’s Cook Out 400 delivered plenty of drama, as Austin Dillon of Richard Childress Racing secured redemption from last year’s race and clinched a playoff spot with a Saturday night victory. Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron also came away with a win in Richmond, locking up the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series regular season championship.

Both races unfolded before a packed grandstand, with the Raceway officially announcing a sellout.
