Richmond to close parking areas near Brown’s Island ahead of concert days for ‘public safety concerns’

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond recently announced it is closing parking at Brown's Island Way at South 2nd Street and Tredegar Street between 5th and Brown's Island Way to vehicle traffic on upcoming concert days.

In addition to those locations, the Belle Isle parking lot on Tredegar will be closed during the month of July as a part of the City's temporary lease agreement to support staging and staffing at the Allianz Amphitheater.

The city also said the closures are for public safety and crowd control on concert days.

The closure dates for the Belle Isle parking lot dates are as follows:

• July 15, 16 and 17 (8 a.m. to 12 a.m.)
• July 19, 24 and 26 ( 1 p.m. 12 a.m.)

Operations at the North Bank Trailhead, Belle Isle and T. Tyler Porterfield Bridge will remain open from sunrise to sunset.
