Richmond to hold public meeting on upcoming utility work in Forrest Hill

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond will hold a virtual public meeting to discuss utility projects in the Forrest Hill Avenue area.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m., and seeks to answer questions and provide additional details about upcoming utility projects in the Forrest Hill Avenue area.

According to the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), the projects are a part of an operation to replace failing infrastructure and improve system reliability, including aging water lines and deteriorated sewer laterals.

Water line replacement:

According to DPU, the water line replacement is set to occur at the 2900 block of Hathaway Road to Riverside Drive and Longview Drive. The anticipated start date for the project is Aug. 25 with a duration of six months.

Sewer lateral replacement:

The sewer lateral replacement will take place from the 6900 to 7000 blocks of Forrest Hill Avenue's westbound lanes with an anticipated start date of Sept. 2, and will continue for two months.

DPU said that during the meeting, residents and business owners will have the opportunity to hear from DPU project managers and learn more about the project, as well as review project plans and traffic impacts.

The meeting will be open to members of the public. Affected property owners are also strongly encouraged to attend.
