Richmond’s annual neighborhood clean-up kicks off in mid-March
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced that it will kick off the city's annual Clean Up Program on Saturday, March. 15.
For the next nine months, DPW crews will visit each of the 15 neighborhood zones twice and offer residents a chance to dump big bulk items free of cost, in addition to the city's biweekly bulk and brush program.
The program will operate on select Saturdays from March 15 to Nov. 15, with all clean-ups starting at 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.
Residents are asked to place their items out on Friday evening and DPW crews will collect the items from curbsides and alleys, "wherever trash is normally placed to be collected."
The neighborhood clean-up program has listed examples of items that are acceptable and non-collectable items, which include:
Collectable:
- Furniture
- Matresses
- Tires (four per household)
- Appliances
- Brush (must be cut into four-foot lengths and bundled)
Non-collectable:
- Electronics
- Construction debris
- Hazardous waste items
- Glass
