Richmond’s annual Watermelon Festival returns to Carytown
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond's 43rd Watermelon Festival will take over the streets of Carytown on Sunday.
The Watermelon Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, in Richmond's Carytown area.
The festival, which is presented by Publix, will return with fresh watermelon for family and friends to enjoy, as well as live music from around 80 musicians and appearances by vendors, according to Carytown Watermelon Festival.
There's something for everyone, with an area dedicated to kids that features rides and games.
The festival is free for everyone and will feature $2 watermelon bowls, with proceeds going towards local Acca Shriners.
According to the release, driver's should prepare for the following street closures:
- Closed from 2 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug.10 -- West Cary Street from North Nansemond Street to Arthur Ashe Blvd
- Connected side streets on both sides of West Cary Street (to Ellwood and Parkwood Aves.)
