Richmond’s water reservoir fills to 17 feet overnight
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond has announced that its water reservoir is almost at full capacity after it filled during the evening on Wednesday into the early hours on Thursday. The reservoir holds up to 18 feet of water, and as of 7:37 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, the city said it had filled to 17 feet. The city added that it has gotten eight zones at the water treatment plant back online. Residents were still asked to continue conserving water so that water pressure could build throughout the system. Once the last zone gets up to 20 psi -- meaning 20 pounds per square inch -- system-wide testing will begin. The city reminds residents that a boil water advisory is still in effect. This comes after the city's water treatment plant malfunctioned due to a power outage on Monday, Jan. 6.
