Second set of performers announced for Richmond Folk Festival
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The second group of performers has been announced for the Richmond Folk Festival, which will return to the River City in October.
The second set of performers comes in addition to the first eight musicians, making up 18 out of the total 30 who will be performing.
The following 10 are the second set of performers:
- Beat Ya Feet Academy, a beat ya feet dance group of D.C.
- The Blackbyrds, a jazz, R&B and funk group of D.C.
- The Broussard Sisters, a juré group of Opelousas, Louisiana
- Cécilia, a Québécois trio of Montreal and Québec, Canada
- Dogo du Togo & the Alagaa Beat Band, a Togolese group of Lomé, Togo, by way of D.C.
- Elizabeth King, a sacred soul and gospel singer of Memphis, Tenn.
- Melissa Carper, a classic country singer of Austin, Texas
- The Sinquah Family, a Hopi hoop dance group of Phoenix, Arizona
- Saami Brothers feat. Ustad Naseeruddin Saami, a qawwali and khayal group of Karachi, Pakistan
- Villa 5, a música norteña group of Los Angeles, California
The festival will be held at the city's riverfront from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, then from noon to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12.
