Section of Prince George road closed until further notice due to severe flooding
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- While most Prince George County roads have reopened after severe flooding and heavy rainfall hit Central Virginia, the county announced a section of Templeton Road will be closed until further notice.
According to an announcement from the county, a section of Templeton Road between Lansing Road and Courtland Road will remain closed to through traffic until further notice. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is working to assess and repair the damage caused by the July 15 flooding and severe storms, per the county.
The county is advising residents to follow the posted detour route and allow additional travel time:
- Northbound: Turn left onto Route 631 (Lansing Road), right onto Route 604 (Halifax Road), right onto Route 62 (Shands Road), right onto Route 605 (Spain Drive), right onto Route 35 (Courtland Road), travel south to Route 638 (Templeton Road).
- Southbound: Travel north on Route 35 (Courtland Road), left onto Route 605 (Spain Drive), left onto Route 621 (Shands Road), left onto Route 604 (Halifax Road), left onto Route 631 (Lansing Road), travel east to Route 638 (Templeton Road).
