Severe thunderstorm warning issued for part of Central Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for part of Central Virginia on Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning will be in effect until 1 p.m. on Monday, March 16 in the following Central Virginia localities:

  • Amelia County
  • Buckingham County
  • Cumberland County
  • Fluvanna County
  • Nottoway County
  • Powhatan County
  • Prince Edward County

An hour prior to this warning being issued for some of Central Virginia, a tornado watch was issued for all of the area.
