RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for some Central Virginia counties on Thursday afternoon.
The warning will be in effect until 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, in the following counties:
- Southeastern Richmond County
- Northern Northumberland County
- Southeastern Westmoreland County
- Northwestern Lancaster County
A severe thunderstorm warning means a severe thunderstorm was located in or near the impacted localities.
These kinds of storms can cause damage to trees, vehicles and powerlines, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
