Six dogs and a cat rescued from house fire in Petersburg
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Petersburg Fire Rescue & Emergency Services rescued six dogs and a cat from a house fire on Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday, Feb. 10, at around 7:30 a.m., Petersburg Fire Rescue & Emergency Services crews responded to a house fire on Rome Street after neighbors called in reports of smoke coming from the residence.
Once on the scene, crews found a two-story wooden house with smoke showing, and they quickly put out the fire in the front room of the house.

While working to ensure the fire was completely out, crews found several puppies and an adult dog inside. In total, six dogs and one cat were safely removed from the home.
The fire was marked under control in under 20 minutes, but crews remain on scene.
