Some Brightspeed customers may have issues calling 911 in Hanover due to outage
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Some Brightspeed customers in an area of Hanover County may have issues calling 911 due to an outage.
At around 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, a spokesperson for Hanover County said that Brightspeed had notified that 51 customers in the Gum Tree area may not be able to make calls to 911 due to a network issue causing an outage.
At around 4 p.m., officials said Brightspeed informed the county that customers in the Montpelier area may also experience issues contacting 911 from landline telephones. These customers are advised to use a cell phone to contact 911.
According to the spokesperson, customers in both areas can reach emergency services by calling the non-emergency number 804-365-6140.
