StormTracker 8: Another cold night ahead

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - We will see significant snowmelt happening on Monday, with the warmest day in Richmond expected tomorrow in the past 10 days. More on that in a moment. Our Sunday night into Monday morning, will bring us mostly clear skies overnight, light winds and cold temperatures dipping down to 20 to 25 degrees, with some isolated locations seeing the upper teens by Monday morning. Possible isolated icy spots remain a possibility on Monday morning, especially in those secondary roadways and roads that see lots of shade across Central Virginia. Monday is my pick day of the week ahead, as we will see the warmest day in Richmond, in the past 10 days, as high temperatures rise into the middle to upper 40s, leading to significant snowmelt to occur under mostly sunny skies and light westerly winds from time to time. Monday night into Tuesday morning, brings a dry cold frontal passage on the way, bringing in a reinforcing shot of chillier air to Central Virginia. Tuesday will be mostly sunny and chilly, with high temperatures rising into the middle 30s with a slight breeze from time to time. Wednesday will be the coldest day of this entire week, with high temperatures only rising into the lower 30s under sunny skies with a slight breeze from time to time. Thursday brings us mostly sunny skies and chilly afternoon temperatures, with high temperatures rising to around 40 degrees. Friday will be a seasonably cool afternoon, with highs in the middle 40s under partly sunny skies. Next weekend, bring our next storm system to Central Virginia, with rain showers in the forecast for next Saturday and next Sunday right now, with high temperatures both days well into the 40s. Finally, for MLK Day, next Monday, we will see more chillier air spilling back into the region, with highs only 30 to 35 degrees under partly cloudy skies. It appears as though for late January; we will see more of that Arctic Airmass spilling into Virginia, like we have been dealing with from time to time in recent days and weeks.
