StormTracker 8: Icy spots for the morning commute

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- We will see sunny skies today, but it will be Breezy and cold with highs near 35 however that breeze out of the north to northwest at 10 to 20 will give us some pretty nasty wind chills today. In fact, windchills this morning as you head out to work could be in the single digits to near 10 while this afternoon when we hit a high of 35 wind chills will remain in the lower to middle 20s. Clear skies will be with us tonight and our wins will diminish allowing for a very cold night with lows in the lower teens across Metro Richmond which means there could be many areas to the north and west in the single digits. Wednesday we'll be looking at mostly sunny skies and it will remain cold with highs 30 to 35. Thursday the sunshine will continue but so will that cold air with highs only around 32. We will start Friday off with some sunshine however clouds will increase as our next winter storm heads our way. Now it is too early for specifics with this winter storm because the models are not really in alignment as to how the storm will develop and the way that it will track. Right now, it looks like we could have the potential for lights snow to develop Friday night and possibly change to a wintry mix on Saturday according to some models while other models keep this system farther to our south and that would allow the cold air to remain in place and for our precipitation to stay as all snow. This is obviously a system we're going to continue to watch and track for you and we'll have updates as we go into the middle of the week and end of the week. Mostly sunny skies will return for Sunday with highs near 35. The sunshine continues for Monday and Tuesdays and lower 40s. Looking ahead through the end of the month there is no warmup in sight, so the January chill will continue for a while.
