StormTracker8: Nice for Sunday afternoon and the start of Fall Monday

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Partly sunny skies will develop after the lunch hour today and it will be a pleasant day with highs in the upper 70s.

We will have partly cloudy skies this evening, but clouds will roll back in later tonight and it will be a comfortable night with lows around 60.

Monday is the first day of fall as it arrives at 2:19 in the afternoon and we will start the day off with clouds, but partly sunny skies will develop during the late morning, and it will turn out to be a nice day with highs near 80.

Tuesday will feature partly sunny skies, and it will be warm with highs in the lower 80s. There is the chance for a few showers out to the West during Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Wednesday will feature partly sunny skies, and it will be warm and a touch humid with highs near 85. We will have the chance for a few isolated thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening.

Thursday will also feature partly sunny skies, and it will remain a touch warm with highs around 80. We will also keep the risk in for some scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening.

Friday is the opening day of the State Fair of Virginia and unfortunately the weather does not look to cooperate at this time as we will see cloudy skies with the risk of showers and thunderstorms across the region. Our high temperatures will top out in the upper 70s.

Looking ahead to next weekend we will see partly sunny skies for Saturday and Sunday with highs in the middle to upper 70s. Keep in mind we do have the risk for a few scattered afternoon and evening storms on Saturday.

Tracking the tropics:

Tropical Storm Gabrielle has winds of 65 mph and it is moving to the north northwest at 9mph. We expect Gabrielle should become a hurricane later today but the main takeaway from the storm is that it will stay well out to see and not be an issue for the United States.

There is another area in the tropics that we are watching and that is a weak tropical wave that is in the eastern Atlantic which has a 30% chance of developing in the next seven days.
