StormTracker8: Not as cold tonight; scattered showers Sunday
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – We had out coldest morning on Saturday morning in Richmond of 22 degrees, the coldest morning since early March of this year. All the state of Virginia was cold first thing today.
Fortunately, tonight won’t be as cold as it was last night. We’re tracking multiple weather systems over the course of the next several days, details below.
Tonight’s forecast on this Saturday night calls for increasing clouds overnight ahead of our next weather system, with not as cold temperatures, dipping back down to either side of 30 degrees.
Sunday morning for locations west of Metro Richmond could see a brief period of freezing rain occur, but little accumulations and impacts are expected, as temperatures will rise above the freezing mark by the 8am hour tomorrow, as it’ll turn into a chilly rain event for the entire region tomorrow, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, with highs around 50 degrees, under mostly cloudy skies. The chilly scattered showers tomorrow on our Sunday should be done prior to Midnight on Sunday night altogether.

Monday is Cyber Monday, and it looks decent, under mostly cloudy skies, and chilly temperatures, only rising to around 45 to 50 degrees.
Monday night into Tuesday morning is when our next weather system approaches the Commonwealth, and that’ll bring a good soaking chilly rain event to the region.
Tuesday will be a chilly and wet day, with mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies and highs only rising to 40 to 45 degrees. Any wintry precipitation if that occurs would be confined out in western and northwestern portions of Virginia during this Tuesday weather system. We could potentially see an inch of very beneficial rainfall altogether from Tuesday’s event, which would be wonderful news, to the worsening drought situation.
Wednesday and Thursday will be quiet weather days, with continued below average temperatures.
Another weather system is slated to sweep through the state of Virginia around late next Friday through most of next Saturday, bringing another round of chilly scattered showers to the region.
Finally, next Sunday, could get back to seasonable, temperature wise, with dry conditions.
