StormTracker8: Pop-up shower or storm until Midnight tonight

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – We’re tracking an airmass change for the new work week, this week, details on that below.
Southern counties of Virginia remain under a Heat Advisory until 8:00 p.m. tonight.
Until Midnight tonight, there remains the possibility of a pop-up shower or storm across Central Virginia, as a weather system is approaching us from our north tonight.
Overnight tonight into our Monday morning, we will see mostly cloudy skies and very muggy overnight temperatures, dipping down into the lower to middle 70s.
Our Monday to kick off the new work week calls for our latest weather system to sweep through the state of Virginia, dropping our overall humidity levels. We will see mostly cloudy skies, transitioning over to partly cloudy skies by the afternoon hours, highs in the middle 80s and isolated showers and storms from approximately 10:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. Any storms tomorrow could bring the risk of locally heavy downpours, gusty winds, frequent lightning and small hail. Additionally, we will be enjoying a cool breeze from time to time, out of a northerly direction, as this weather system sweeps through the Commonwealth.
Tuesday and Wednesday will both be delightful days to be outdoors, under mostly sunny skies, highs in the middle to upper 80s and tolerable humidity levels.
Thursday will still be a nice day for outdoor activities, under mostly sunny skies, but temperatures and humidity levels will be slowly increasing again, with highs around 90 degrees for Thursday afternoon, with a slight heat index by then.
Friday will be a very hot and humid day, with highs in the middle 90s, heat index values upwards of 105 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
Finally, looking ahead to next weekend and early next work week, we will see plenty of heat, plenty of humidity and afternoon and evening thunderstorm chances for next Saturday, next Sunday and the following Monday.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: There’s a tropical disturbance out in the far open Atlantic Ocean, with a very low formation chance over the next 7 days.
