StormTracker8: Watching Monday closely for strong to severe storms
Richmond, Va (WRIC) -- All eyes are on Monday, March 16th as strong to severe storms are in the forecast for Monday afternoon and Monday evening. More on this incoming threat below.
Tonight’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies to mostly clear skies, and comfortable temperatures, getting down to around 40 degrees.
Tomorrow’s forecast calls for increasing clouds throughout the day, leading to mostly cloudy skies, comfortable temperatures, getting up to around 65 degrees, breezy conditions from time to time with south-southeast winds of 5-15 mph, gusts of 30 mph possible and scattered showers in the afternoon and evening hours.
Monday is a VIPIR Alert Day for strong to severe storms, as a powerful weather system will be sweeping through Central Virginia during the PM hours.

The approximate timing of seeing strong to severe storms is around 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. from west to east. Watches and/or warnings are potentially going to be issued, so have a way to get those alerts and get prepared now. Aside from the strong storm threat Monday, we will see mostly cloudy skies and warm temperatures rising to around 75 degrees. Tuesday is St. Patrick’s Day, and it will be a MUCH COLDER start in the morning once again, starting off near 30 degrees in Metro Richmond which means locations outside of the Metro could start off in the 20s Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon brings partly sunny skies, breezy conditions from time to time and chilly temperatures, rising to around 45 degrees.
Wednesday will be another chilly day across the viewing area, with temperatures rising to around 45 degrees under partly sunny skies.
Thursday will be a nice day, under partly sunny skies, and highs around 60 degrees.
Friday is the first official day of Spring, and we will see mostly cloudy skies, and spring like temperatures, rising to 65 to 70 degrees.
Finally, next weekend, is looking quiet both days, under partly sunny skies and afternoon temperatures rising into the 60s.
