String of thefts from vehicles hits Colonial Heights
COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- Several vehicles had items stolen from them in Colonial Heights over the weekend.
Between 10 p.m. and midnight on March 29 and March 30, four unlocked vehicles had various valuables stolen from them across Colonial Heights, according to the city's police department.

These valuables included electronics, tools and "small amounts" of money.
Police said a suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored pickup truck, is believed to be connected to these incidents.
Here are a few tips on protecting yourself from such thefts, provided by Colonial Heights police:
- Lock your vehicle. Unlocked vehicles are an easy target for thieves.
- Remove your valuables. Don't leave things in your car that thieves could see and find tempting. This includes things like bags, electronics and even loose change.
- Don't park in the dark. If at all possible, park somewhere well-lit.
