Three dogs abandoned at New Kent gas station in a month

NEW KENT, Va. (WRIC) -- The New Kent Sheriff's Office Animal Protection Unit is investigating after three dogs have been abandoned at the same gas station throughout the last month.

All of the dogs were left at a Love's Gas Station dog park on Emmaus Church Road, according to a Facebook post, with the most recent incident happening on Tuesday, April 22.

The sheriff's office said that witnesses saw someone drive up in a car, put the dog in the park and then drive away, leaving behind a black pit-bull puppy. Two other dogs were left behind at the gas station as well in separate incidents.

Those who may have seen someone abandoning a dog at the gas station are encouraged to notify the office at 804-966-9500. Before calling, people are urged to try and get a license plate number as well as a description of the person and their vehicle.
