Three injured after three-vehicle crash in Amelia County

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Three people are injured after a three-vehicle crash that occurred at an intersection in Amelia County on Saturday.

At 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, Virginia State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Five Forks Road and Military Road in Amelia County.

According to police, a 34-year-old Chesterfield man was driving a 2013 Toyota RAV4 east on Five Forks Road when he reportedly did not stop at a stop sign and drove into the intersection.

Officials said the RAV4 hit the passenger side of a 2015 Ford Fusion that a 46-year-old Amelia woman, was driving south on Military Road.

The impact reportedly pushed the Fusion into the northbound lane, where it then hit a 2021 Mazda CXX-9 driven by a 36-year-old Nottoway man. The Fusion then spun and came to rest in the middle of Military Road.

Following the initial crash, police said the RAV4 crossed into the northbound lane of Military Road and hit the CX-9 head-on. Both vehicles spun about 180 degrees before coming to rest facing the opposite direction of travel.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Fusion as well as the driver of the Mazda CX-9 were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries.

No injuries were reported by the three people inside the Toyota RAV4, police said.

Officials continue to investigate the crash.
