Three suspects break cable lock to steal scooter on VCU campus, police say

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Police are searching for three suspects who a witness saw steal a scooter on Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) campus in Richmond on Wednesday. Just after 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, officers with VCU Police were contacted by the witness of an electric scooter theft at the Cary Street Gym, located at 101 S. Linden Street. According to police, the witness said they saw three suspects rock the scooter -- which was locked to the bike rack at the gym -- until the cable lock securing it broke. They then removed the scooter and left with it, moving eastbound towards W. Cary Street. VCU Police described the three suspects as young males who were wearing dark-colored hoodies and black jackets at the time of the theft. No additional identifying information was provided.
