Two 70-year-olds die following single-vehicle crash in Caroline County

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two 70-year-old women died following a single-vehicle crash in Caroline County on Sunday afternoon.

At 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, Virginia State Police responded to the 16000 block of Pepmeier Hill Road for a single-vehicle crash that resulted in two deaths.

Police said 70-year-old Phyllis D. Washington was driving a Chevrolet Equinox east on Pepmeier Hill Road, roughly a half of a mile east of Santee Road, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Both Washington and her passenger, 70-year-old Nora Sabrina Clinton, were taken to a nearby hospital where they died due to their injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
