Two arrested after reports of shots fired near Charlottesville school soccer field

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people were arrested after responding to reports of shots fired near a soccer field at a Charlottesville elementary school early Sunday morning.

At 12:09 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, officers with the Charlottesville Police Department responded to the area of Willow Dr. and Grace St. after reports of shots fired.

According to police, officers found several spent shell casings near the soccer field on Sunrise Elementary School's property.

Two suspects were located nearby and taken into custody after an investigation.

Police also recovered two firearms as evidence.
