Two male victims injured after shooting in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- The Petersburg Bureau of Police has released additional information regarding a shooting that occurred Monday evening.

At 8:03 p.m. on Monday, June 30, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police were called to the 400 block of Ridgeview Lane for the report of shots fired.

Officers who responded began to search the area for a vehicle that was seen leaving the scene.

A vehicle matching the description of the vehicle that left the scene was seen heading north on Sycamore Street.

Officers then pulled over the vehicle as they approached and heard a gunshot from within the vehicle.

The people inside the vehicle were detained, and a male victim was found with a gunshot wound.

A second male victim arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Both victims' injuries were non-life-threatening, according to police.

During the incident, officials said no shots were fired by police. Officials continue to investigate.
